A tablescape with the grandkids

Have you ever tried to set a beautiful table with a 3 year old helping? Needless to say, it's a challenge. But I think it's so good for them to start early. Today the 7 year old and the 3 year old helped. Tonight my daughter is cooking chicken with brie and spinach with tomato orzo, so I thought that we needed to really doll up the table. (We are a multi-generational household; read about it on her blog http://thethriftydesigner.blogspot.com/2010/05/joys-of-designing-multi-generational.html)

Lilly helped cut the flowers and folded the napkins. Can you guess what Lilly's favorite flowers are? No... not roses. Katie helped set the table. I love my helpers!

This is my favorite china, Portmerion's "The Botanic Garden." The pieces have all sorts of different flowers on them. You might notice that the teacups don't match. I have teacups for all of the 9 granddaughters. Katie loves her blue flowered one and really doesn't want anyone else to use it. I can understand; it might get broken!

Moms and grandmothers alike, I encourage you to spend quality (which means quantity also) time with your kiddos. I promise it has great value--for them and for you!

A quote that I really like:

If becoming a grandmother was only a matter of choice, I should advise every one of you straight away to become one. There is no fun for old people like it! ~Hannah Whithall Smith

All in all, I think we girls did a pretty good job, dont you? Blessings!

What an inviting table. Makes me want to take out my pretty dishes.
Thanks for the reminder that it is the little things that makes a difference.

How lovely your table is! What lovely helpers you had. So sweet! I just love your tea pot and cups. The table is beautiful. I love the roses and the petals on the table! This is one sweet TEA, with your grandchildren helping! I just love it! My granddaughter is so excited as we do Tea Settings. We been planning a few today, she picking out a teapot with creamer and sugar ready for her little cousin to join her for Tea. Thank you so much for joining me for Tea Time Tuesday.
