This Is the Day

Last night's sunset from our window

  Trust in him at all times, O people;
        pour out your heart before him;
        God is a refuge for us. Selah
    Those of low estate are but a breath;
        those of high estate are a delusion;
    in the balances they go up;
        they are together lighter than a breath.
    Put no trust in extortion;
        set no vain hopes on robbery;
        if riches increase, set not your heart on them...
power belongs to the Lord.
Psalm 62:8-10,11b

As I looked at the beautiful sunset last evening I thought of Psalm 118:24:  "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."  The beauty of the Lord in nature is always a reminder of the significance and the power of an Almighty God.  It is impossible to think ourselves more than mortal man when we see the God of all power glorified in what He has created.  We are but a breath, and if we think we are something grand, the truth is, it is all a delusion.  It is senseless to kill ourselves trying to extort what we do not have or to be something that we are not.  More stuff, more money, more position does not bring contentment or power.

Today is the day the Lord has made.  Let us rejoice and be glad in this day, wherever we are in life.  We are empowered by His power to live life to the fullest in whatever state He allows us to be.  Rejoice!  Be glad!

Rejoicing,
Gloria

Beautiful photo Gloria! Sometimes, (not often enough) when I see a sunset or a bush in full bloom, a bird sitting on the porch step or the Ozark mountains in the fall, I think of God and how he has made such beauty for us to enjoy. How anyone can see these things and not KNOW there is a God is beyond my comprehension.

Oh that we would all truly grasp and live out the reality that God IS in control. Think of all the sin we could avoid.
