My Daddy Hears My Cry

    Hear my cry, O God,
        listen to my prayer;
    from the end of the earth I call to you
        when my heart is faint.
    Lead me to the rock
        that is higher than I,
    for you have been my refuge,
        a strong tower against the enemy.
    Let me dwell in your tent forever!
        Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings! Selah
Psalm 61:1-4

The grandchildren at our house were given a trampoline for Christmas (a smaller version), and last night the younger ones were out in the garage playing on it.  Suddenly the 2 year old started crying loudly--is there any other way to cry?--and her dad went running.  He picked her up in his very strong arms and brought her inside, and that little girl felt secure almost immediately.

Oh, what a blessing to know that I have a "Daddy" who hears my cry when I am hurt, when my heart is faint. Don't you love the beautiful picture that is presented in this psalm?  Our Heavenly Father is the Rock that is so much higher than we or anyone or anything.  In His strong grasp we are unreachable.  He is our Refuge, our Strong Tower from the enemies of life.  He is our Tent, our protection from the winds and storms that assail us.  And what better place to take refuge than under the shelter of His wings?  Just as little Maggie felt secure and protected in the arms of her Father, our Heavenly Father gives us the privilege of coming to Him in the hour of need, whatever that need may be.

Resting gratefully in the shelter of His wings,
Gloria
