Give the king your justice, O God,
and your righteousness to the royal son!
May he judge your people with righteousness,
and your poor with justice!
Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people,
and the hills, in righteousness!
May he defend the cause of the poor of the people,
give deliverance to the children of the needy,
and crush the oppressor!
May they fear you while the sun endures,
and as long as the moon, throughout all generations!
May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass,
like showers that water the earth!
In his days may the righteous flourish,
and peace abound, till the moon be no more!
May prayer be made for him continually,
and blessings invoked for him all the day!

Oh, that we would pray this prayer for those who reside over our nation's people! Can you only imagine what God might have done over the past years if all of Christendom had banded together and prayed instead of criticized or been lethargic? What might have been gained?
Each Sunday I am reminded during our prayer time before Sunday School to pray for the salvation of our President and those in authority. I am so thankful for this reminder. Whether or not I agree with the stand our governing body takes is not the issue; I still have the privilege and responsibility to pray for them.
We have an election coming up. Whether we feel that the options are slim pickins' or the bet ever, we are yet responsible: "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." 1 Timothy 2:1-2
Praying for our leaders and future leaders,
Gloria

Oh yes, it's so very easy to criticize and judge our leaders. They are there because God allowed it. They deserve our prayers and our support and we often forget that, and some never think of it at all. What a terrible shame. I can't imagine the stress and burden these people carry.
Our country and the entire world is in such a state now, only the good Lord will be able to do anything about it. Take care.
Praying for the lost, includes the nation's leaders.
Good reminder, Gloria, that 'He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them.' Our hope is in the Lord, not power-seeking humans. These leaders bear a huge responsibility before God.
Oh this is perfect. It's so easy to criticize...and our leaders have a hard job, even those we are not in agreement with. They need our prayers!!! Plus, it's biblical...and we're asked to pray specifically for those in authority over us. Thanks for the reminder :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
