It makes a big difference when we remember that dirt is just dirt; it is we who are utterly sinful. And God had clearly stated how the ark should be moved. We sometimes forget that He is not 'okay' with our sin. God is still holy and just, and it's only because of Jesus' sacrifice in our place that we are forgiven.
